Enjoying MG July 2016
Being the summer season July was a very busy month for the club.
The first event on 3rd was our annual treasure hunt, which was organised by Cliff Boulton. The run started from Macknade fine Foods in Faversham and ended at The Bredgar & Wormshill Light Gauge Railway near Sittingbourne. 10 cars took part, the event being won by Graham & Debbie.
For the July club night we met at a different pub, the Jackdaw Inn at Denton, famous for featuring in the Battle of Britain war film. We had a good turn out and the food and ale were superb.
On 16th July eight cars went to the Sheldwich fete, which is in a lovely location on the village green. Norman and Janet brought along their friends from the Worcester Group who seemed to enjoy the interesting sports on offer. Wellie wanging can be quite dangerous with one Wellington boot landing on Lee’s car windscreen. No damage done, but we need to be further away next time! Two of our members Paul and his son Callum took part in the annual egg throwing competition and managed to get quite a long way before their egg smashed. We need to hard boil it next year!
On Sunday 17th July four of our cars went to the Herne Bay classic car show, which once again was on the seafront. Yours truly took along his MGA, but upon arrival was unable to get the boot open. As a last ditch solution Norman suggested driving the car and then stopping quickly. Amazingly this worked!
On 11th September the Aylesford Priory Classic Car Show takes place and for the September club night on 13th we have a quiz.
