Enjoying MG August 2016
On Sunday 31st July we had our main event of the year, The Invicta Run, which started from Macknade Fine Foods car park at Faversham. They very kindly opened their coffee shop at 9.00am instead of 10.00am, so that participants could have refreshments prior to the event. We had a fantastic turn out of 52 cars for the start and we even managed to generate interest from the local press, who took photographs and published articles in the Faversham Times and The Faversham News the following week.
The run started at about 10.00 am and followed a route using tulip diagrams of about 50 miles through mainly minor roads to the finish at The Battle of Britain Museum at Hawkinge. Once there the participants were able to visit the excellent museum.
By all accounts everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some have even enquired where we are going to go next year! Thanks to Norman & Janet Foord who organised the event and Chris Dencer and Wendy Richardson, who sorted out the plaques and mementos.
On 14th August George Homewood organised his annual Gymkhana and barbeque in his field at Munday Bois. This was by all accounts well attended. We however opted to stay in Herne Bay for the airshow.
On 21st August 5 of our cars went to the Whitstable Car show on Tankerton Slopes overlooking the sea, where over 700 classic cars were on display.
For our club night on 11th October we have a guest speaker from the Air Ambulance Service, which should be an interesting talk.
